// terms of use and disclaimer
The terms and the one-PC licence.
Last updated 28 October 2026. These are the same terms the installer shows before it installs anything. Please read them before you buy. By buying, installing or using NextBeacon you agree to everything below. If you do not agree, do not buy or install it.
1. Who is providing this
NextBeacon is provided by NextBeacon LLC, a Colorado limited liability company owned and run by Rob Hale, as an early-access tool from a one-person company.
2. What NextBeacon does
NextBeacon runs on your own PC. It reads public job postings, scores them against the profile you give it, drafts résumés and letters, and emails you a daily list. It uses your own Claude account (from Anthropic) to do the AI work. It never applies for a job for you. You review everything and you press Submit.
3. Provided "as is", no warranty
NextBeacon is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults, and without any warranty of any kind, whether written, spoken or implied. This includes, without limit, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or that it will be free of errors, interruptions or viruses. You use it entirely at your own risk.
4. Your PC and your data
Installing NextBeacon puts programs on your PC (including Node.js, Git and Claude Code, which belong to other companies and have their own terms), creates scheduled tasks, and reads and writes files in its own folder. You are responsible for backing up your PC before you install and for anything that happens to your PC, your files, your accounts or your network as a result of installing, running, updating or removing NextBeacon. To the fullest extent the law allows, NextBeacon LLC is not responsible for any damage to, or loss of, your computer, software, data, settings, accounts or anything else.
5. The AI can be wrong
Scores, reasons, résumés, cover letters and interview material are produced by an AI model and can be wrong, incomplete or misleading. You must read and check every document before you send it to anyone. You alone are responsible for what you submit to an employer and for its accuracy.
6. No promises about your job search
NextBeacon is a tool that helps you organize and prepare. It does not promise, guarantee or predict any result. Specifically, NextBeacon LLC makes no promise that you will get a response from any employer, an interview, an offer, a job, a particular title, pay level or start date, or that your search will be shorter or easier. Scores are opinions produced by an AI model about fit; a high score does not mean an employer will agree, and a low score does not mean you would be turned down. Any examples, sample scores or stories you see on the website, in the install package or from NextBeacon LLC are illustrations, not promises. Whether you get a job depends on you, the employer and the market, none of which NextBeacon controls. Nothing it produces is career, legal, financial or professional advice, and you should not rely on it as such.
7. Your Claude account: required, paid by you, and the tool stops without it
NextBeacon does its scoring, résumé writing and other AI work through Claude, a service from Anthropic, using an account that belongs to you. This means:
- You must have a paid Claude plan that includes Claude Code, in your own name, and you must keep it active and signed in on the PC where NextBeacon runs.
- You pay Anthropic for that plan and for any usage charges yourself, under Anthropic's own terms and prices. NextBeacon LLC does not sell, resell, include or pay for Claude, has no control over its price, limits, availability or terms, and does not refund any part of your NextBeacon payment because of Claude's cost or any change Anthropic makes.
- If your Claude plan lapses, is cancelled, is suspended, runs out of usage, or Anthropic changes or withdraws the service, NextBeacon's scoring, résumés, letters and other AI features will stop working until you restore it. That is expected behavior, not a defect, and it is not a reason for a refund or a claim against NextBeacon LLC.
- Keeping within Anthropic's rules for your account is your responsibility.
You are also responsible for your own email, internet and other accounts and their costs. Employers' websites and job boards belong to them and may change or block access at any time; NextBeacon may stop working with some of them and NextBeacon LLC has no control over that.
8. Limit on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, NextBeacon LLC will not be liable to you or anyone else for any loss or damage of any kind arising out of or related to NextBeacon, however caused and under any theory of law. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary and punitive damages, lost data, lost time, lost income, lost opportunities, missed deadlines, the cost of repairs or replacements, and the cost of any AI or other services. If, despite the above, NextBeacon LLC is found liable to you for any reason, the total liability for all claims together will not exceed the amount you paid NextBeacon LLC for NextBeacon, or one hundred US dollars (USD 100), whichever is greater. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you; in that case liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.
9. You will cover claims caused by your use
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless NextBeacon LLC from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) made by anyone that arises from your use of NextBeacon, from anything you submit to an employer, or from your breach of these terms.
10. Personal use only, no copying or resale
NextBeacon is licensed to you, not sold. You may install and use it on PCs you own or control, for your own personal job search, within the limits of section 17. You may not copy, share, publish, sell, rent, lend or redistribute the package or any part of it, and you may not offer it as a service to others. NextBeacon LLC's additions, including the installer, the setup walkthrough, the daily run, the email report, the scoring and résumé workflow, the branding and these terms, are copyright NextBeacon LLC. NextBeacon is built on the open-source "career-ops" toolkit, which is used under its MIT license; that license and its credit notice are kept in the LICENSE file in the program folder and continue to apply to that toolkit's code.
11. Support and updates
Any help, fixes or updates are provided at NextBeacon LLC's discretion unless you and NextBeacon LLC agree otherwise in writing. NextBeacon LLC may stop providing NextBeacon, support or updates at any time. Updates are supplied only to a copy that holds a valid, unrevoked licence (section 17).
12. Privacy
NextBeacon keeps your résumé, profile and job history in files on your own PC. It does not send them to NextBeacon LLC. It does send posting text and parts of your profile to the AI provider you sign in with, under that provider's terms, and it connects to employers' websites and to your email provider when you set those up. NextBeacon LLC does not collect or store your personal data through NextBeacon. The privacy page says more, in plain language.
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated with a new version of NextBeacon. The version shown at install time is the one that applies to that install.
14. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and you agree to their jurisdiction. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
15. The whole agreement
These terms are the whole agreement between you and NextBeacon LLC about NextBeacon, unless you have a separate written agreement with NextBeacon LLC that says it replaces them.
16. What your PC needs, read this before you buy
You buy NextBeacon before you download or install it. By buying, you confirm that the PC you will install it on meets all of the following, which the installer checks before it installs:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. Mac, Linux, tablets and phones are not supported.
- At least 4 GB of free space on the drive that holds your Windows user folder (the program takes about 1.75 GB and needs room to work).
- Memory: 8 GB is the tested minimum. With 4 to 8 GB it runs, but the morning scoring is slower and the PC may feel busy while it runs. Below 4 GB it will not run.
- An internet connection from which the PC can reach Claude (claude.ai and api.anthropic.com), GitHub (for updates) and the public job boards. Some work networks block these; a home network usually works.
- A paid Claude plan that includes Claude Code, in your own name (section 7).
- For the morning run to start while the PC sleeps, the Windows power plan must allow wake timers; otherwise the run happens the next time the PC is on.
If the installer finds that the PC does not meet one of these, it tells you which one and what to change, and you can run the installer again once it is fixed. Making the PC meet these requirements is your responsibility, not NextBeacon LLC's.
17. One PC per purchase
Each purchase licenses NextBeacon on one Windows PC, locked to that PC by an unlock code. If you replace that PC, the same purchase may be moved to one further PC. A third PC needs a new purchase. Sharing the installer, the unlock code or your purchase key with anyone else is a breach of section 10 and may lead to the licence being revoked without refund. There is no free trial and no free tier.
18. Refunds
If NextBeacon is not for you, ask NextBeacon LLC within 7 days of purchase and you will receive a full refund. A refund ends your licence: the unlock code stops being valid and updates stop. Refund requests after 7 days are at NextBeacon LLC's discretion.
